Highly qualified, starting out in the early 90’s Judy has been saddle fitting for over 25 years and over time has advanced her skills and knowledge culminating in becoming a qualified Overseas UK Saddle fitter in 2010. This is regarded as the pinnacle of saddle fitting expertise. Being an associate overseas member of the UK Society of Master Saddlers Judy is continually kept up to date with industry innovations and saddle technology.
As an independent saddle fitter Judy will provide you with an unbiased, honest assessment of your saddle fitting requirements to ensure optimum comfort and performance for both the horse and rider's requirements The horses health and well being is paramount. If the existing client's saddle is compatible, Judy will make adjustments to ensure optimum comfort and then view the saddle ridden in to assess it under weight and in motion. On the otherhand, if the saddle is not compatible the saddle will not be adjusted as this will compromise the horse's back health and rider safety. In this scenario a detailed list of compatible saddles will be given to the rider with their report, so they may purchase a compatible saddle either new or secondhand. This will include websites and stockists for the rider to further investigate. Once a saddle is purchased it will need to be adjusted and assessed being ridden in.
Going forward from the initial fitting, please bear in mind that with all saddles, flocking will settle and horses can change shape. The time of year, the age of the animal, the work being done, even a change of home or rider may considerably alter the way the saddle fits. It is therefore good stable management to monitor this and check for any signs of discomfort. A regular 6-12 month check is advisable.
